January 25th 2015 Weather Statement

The Middle Island Fire Department would like the the community to be aware of and please prepare for a potentially crippling and historic blizzard from 1 pm Monday afternoon through midnight Tuesday (01/25/2015 – 01/26/2015).

The National Weather Service is forecasting general snowfall from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet with local amounts in excess of 3 feet.  North winds of 20 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph will reach widespread blowing and drifting snow causing blizzard conditions.

Please ensure that cell phones are charged, batteries in your flashlights are new and we urge you to remain indoors and off the roadways during this weather emergency.

Santa is coming to Middle Island

Through a mutual agreement with North Pole Enterprises and the Middle Island Fire Department Santa will be escorted through Middle Island by the MIFD and it’s members.  Don’t miss Santa as he travels about 50 miles of the 11 square miles of Middle Island Fire District on December 20th starting at 4pm.
